Plant Information
 
Sansevieria Black Gold is a cultivar of Sansevieria, and it is commonly known as Snake Plant or Mother-in-Law's Tongue. It is named "Black Gold" due to the thick, upright leaves that are dark green to nearly black in color, with a bright golden yellow color around the edges. The leaves have a glossy sheen, which adds to their striking appearance. 
 
Sansevieria generally have a compact, clumping growth habit. The leaves grow upright and can be short, long, curved or straight, depending on the variety. Sansevieria plants produce offshoots, or “pups,” as they mature. As indoor houseplants, many varietals of sansevieria will produce more pups over time, creating a low-maintenance statement piece for your home or office.  Sansevieria Black Gold are relatively slow growers that produce long, tall and straight leaves in a clumping pattern, with new leaves emerging from the center of the clump. 
 
Care and Maintenance
 
Remember that each plant is unique, so closely monitor your plant and adjust its care based on its response. By providing the right conditions, you'll be rewarded with a stunning and healthy plant that adds a touch of tropical elegance to your indoor space.
 
Light
Provide bright, indirect light for your sansevieria. It can tolerate lower light conditions, but its coloration will be most pronounced and attractive in moderate to bright indirect light. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight, as this can scorch the leaves.
 
Temperature
Maintain a comfortable room temperature between 65-80°F (18-27°C). Keep it away from cold drafts and sudden temperature fluctuations.
 
Watering
Allow the top inch or two of the soil to dry out before watering. Sansevieria prefer drier conditions, and do well with a bit of neglect. Water thoroughly when needed, but ensure that the pot has proper drainage to prevent waterlogged roots.
 
Soil
Use a well-draining potting mix to prevent overwatering. A mix of regular potting soil, perlite, sand, and peat moss or coconut coir works well.
 
Fertilization
Feed your sansevieria with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce or eliminate fertilization during the fall and winter when growth slows down.
 
Humidity
Sansevieria can tolerate average indoor humidity levels. It generally does not need any extra humidity.
 
Pruning
Trim any yellowing or dead leaves to maintain the plant's appearance and encourage new growth.
 
Potting
Repot your sansevieria when it becomes root-bound or outgrows its current container. Repotting is best done in the spring.
 
Dusting
Dust can accumulate on the leaves, hindering their ability to absorb light. Wipe the leaves gently with a damp cloth or give the plant a shower occasionally to keep it clean.
 
Pests and Diseases
Keep an eye out for common houseplant pests like spider mites, thrips, aphids, and mealybugs. If you spot any pests, take action promptly with appropriate treatments.
 
Rotation
To ensure even growth and avoid the plant leaning towards the light source, rotate it every couple of weeks.
